The history of Reese's Peanut Butter Chocolate

History

Reese Chocolate, peanut butter was first manufactured in America in the 1920s when HB Reese Candy Company made a peanut butter and treatments filled with special Hershey's chocolate. The peanut butter cups were the first to be produced, a popular topic that has grown into a well-known and loved confectionery product enjoyed by people around the world.

The name Reese has a unique heritage. Harry Burnett Reese was born in 1879 on a farm in Frosty Hill, Pennsylvania. He was a former dairy employee of Milton S. Work Hershey, founder of Hershey's Food Corporation. Inspired by the success of Hershey's, HB Reese left the milk started his own confectionery business.

Although HB Reese decision led to the introduction of a now world famous product still represents something unique in the candy industry, experienced much adversity before building a society that flourished in one product – a combination of butter peanut.

Reese acquired a parcel of land on the western edge of Hershey, where they built a state of the art fully automated 100,000 square feet of manufacturing facilities. The plant, situated in the Chocolate Avenue in Hershey, Pa., opened in August 1957.

Six years later, in 1963, the Hershey Company, which was formerly known companies such as Hershey Foods, bought the neighbor, HB Reese Candy Company for $ 23.5 million.
