The potential benefits of therapeutic massage for cancer patients in Holmdel NJ
A study has shown that massage therapy decreases pain and improves mood of cancer patients, but the effect is not lasting. However, licensed massage therapist Tracy Walton considers the momentary rest provided by massage therapy is of great value to cancer patients. These findings and views can be of great value as well, to cancer patients in Holmdel NJ and County Monmouth, Middletown, Hazlet, Red Bank, Colts Neck, Lincroft, Atlantic Highlands, Highlands, Union Beach, Keyport, Matawan, Aberdeen, Leonardo, Rumson, Fair Haven Little Silver.
JS Kutner, MC Smith, L. Corbin, L. Hemphill, K. Benton, BK Mellis, B. Beaty, S. Felton, TE Yamashita, LL Bryant, DL Fairclough and researchers were who conducted the study "Massage Therapy versus Simple Touch to improve pain and mood in patients with advanced cancer: A Randomized Trial." Documentation the study was published in the Annals of Internal Medicine on 16 September 2008.
The study included 380 patients with advanced cancer and adults have experienced at least moderate pain. They were randomly divided into the massage therapy group and the group of simple contact. Patients were offered up to six massage sessions of 30 minutes or 30 minutes of simple contact, depending on your group, in the course of two weeks. Patients had the option of attending or not attending meetings.
Coached the gave massage therapists massage therapy, following a standard procedure. Simple touch was given by untrained personnel, who took charge of putting both hands on each of 10 sites in the body for three minutes at a time. Unscented massage cream was used in both groups.
The level of patients in pain, mood, quality of life and use of medication for pain relief were measured by questionnaires at baseline and then every week for three weeks.
The subsequent results showed that patients in the massage therapy group showed greater improvement in pain levels and elevation in mood compared to patients in the single contact group. The improvements, however, did not last long after treatment ends.
Some sectors may see this as a failure of massage therapy to offer significant benefits to patients with advanced cancer. It should be noted, however, that there is no illusion that offers massage therapy can cure advanced cancer or bring long-short-term relief.
Licensed massage therapist Tracy Walton provides a deeper insight into the effects of massage therapy to clients with advanced cancer. She calls and calls warriors each massage therapy session is given a rest period for the warrior.
Walton cites the many challenges faced by patients with advanced cancer. "My clients tell me that Do not just fight against cancer: they support, performance, pray, mourn and persevere. The cancer requires people to spend time in the confusion, terror and mystery, "she says. Massage allows them to let go if only for a time, shares of Walton: "For a short time, nutritious, not think, or regime, or fight, and I just relax. I let someone else who looks after me, let me fall, be captured and transported. Through this act of confidence, I am recharged. "For patients living with advanced cancer, these small pockets of relaxation are valuable indeed.
Although various forms of massage therapy spas are available in professional massage, including reflexology therapy, massage therapy, deep tissue massage, sports massage therapy and pregnancy massage therapy is recommended that patients with cancer undergo massage therapy a licensed massage therapist who has training in oncology massage therapy. Cancer patients in Holmdel in Monmouth County NJ, Middletown, Hazlet, Red Bank, Colts Neck, Lincroft, Atlantic Highlands, Highlands, Union Beach, Keyport, Matawan, Aberdeen, Leonardo, Rumson, Fair Haven and Little Silver will gain much from such treatment.
Which is better for massage: oil, lotion or cream?
This fall, I am attending school Massge therapy, and was curious to know that people prefer, oil, lotion or cream? Is there a difference for you? What are the pros and cons of each? Thank you! : D
All have their pros and cons. It will be an individual decision for you. oil has the best glide, but not absorbed, so that customers will leave fat. Even if choose an oil for regular use, keep one on hand for really hairy men. Creams and lotions tend to get stuck in your hair and tie a knot. Kind of makes a mess. If you do use oil, be careful what type of oil being. Some oils are from nuts, and you do not want to use for people with nut allergies. If is a mixture, check the list of ingredients. My choice is jojoba oil. Cream is very nice because it slides better than the lotion and not absorb quickly, but you have to use more oil than you, and it gets expensive. Lotion absorbs a bit too good to be very practical for a full body massage. I use it in the hands and feet, because it penetrates so well (some of which smooths rough skin absorbs so do not leave things in their hands and feet), sometimes mixed with oil me if your skin is especially dry. I actually prefer the option which does not mention (probably do not know), which is the gel. Gel is a thick oil. It does almost everything one not oil, but it seems that less use of it because it's thicker. When you begin to experiment with products, go to www.massagewarehouse.com and get your $ 20 Option 3. For $ 20 to choose three products from a list, and is less than the outright purchase in most cases. It is a good way to try things and see what you like.
