searchterm

This is the ninth article of a series on how to achieve Internet business success.

In the last two articles we've delved into the market research after discovering areas of interest and passion. We had to determine whether there is sufficient demand for what you offer online.

Now we have to drill deeper and get a little more scientific in our investigation. To do this we will require the use of programs called "tools" as Google's keyword research tool. There are many others, but Google are free and are excellent. Who has better data to feed a tool research that makes Google? Nobody.

Since Google dominates Internet search, and while keeping the data on each search conducted on its search engine, Google has become the "de facto Alpha and Omega – the beginning and end – when it comes to keyword research and market surveys online.

  • The amazing what Google is that it is a single market for research as we can tell both the supply and demand.
  • Google can tell us how many thousands (or hundreds of thousands) of times a search term is used each month.
  • Even we can tell the search volume trends month month to see what topics are hot and are cooled.
  • In addition, Google can tell us the "supply" of websites and web pages respond to demand.

The demand is evidenced by the number of keyword searches. The "offer" is shown by the number of results presented in a Google search. These are the responsibility of web pages.

How to find the information you are looking for on Google?

  • The equation Offering is analyzing the number of results displayed on the screen of your computer after entering a search term.
  • Note the different number of results you get when you put the search words (keywords) within quotation marks or brackets on the inside.
  • Comillas give what is called "phrase match" and the media to give "exact match".
  • Phrase match means all words in your keyword phrase used in the search term, but not necessarily in the same order, and there may be other words.
  • Exact Searches will match fewer results, but can be more specific to their needs, and this is often used when doing keyword research.

The next time we will see real life example of an assessment of supply and demand in different markets.
