How much pay for a full body massage?

I am a massage therapist. When I do a full body massage and have the option to go home of the person or come to mine and I can massage my Zen room. I only charge $ 30 for a massage and I know it is very inexpensive. If you receive massage, How much to spend on them? If you do not receive massages on how much spend on others?

Typical rates of LMT / CMTS in more urban areas and have lived in and start at $ 1/min reach $ 1.50/min for spas. This is for the office practices. A practice of origin would have to charge less (probably $ 45/hr.). IMO, they have a special first visit $ 45, a rate of time-$ 60 and $ 45 for multiple-visit packages).

Is there an age limit for full body massage?

I'm thinking of getting a full body massage. How old do you have to receive one?

My sister-in-law is a massage therapist, and under it there is no age limit, but as a rule do not want to do a massage at any person under 18 years, even with parental consent. Your attitude needs to be an adult to get a massage unless necessary for physical therapy, and in which case a physical therapy clinic would.

Description

This popular design reflects years of feedback from massage therapists, chiropractors, and physical therapists. With 11 therapy knobs, the Body Back Buddy stimulates in between muscles and pinpoints trigger points for a more finely-tuned treatment. Engineered to be lightweight, strong and easy to use. Combines the best of the Body Back Buddy features for those who want the ultimate self massage tool. Overall length is 25 . Comes with a free 12 page instruction booklet. Directions: Hook the Body Back Buddy massage tool over your shoulder or around your side to treat hard to reach areas of the back, neck and shoulders. Hold it comfortably by the handles or the frame so that the therapy knob touches the affected muscle. Push away from your body with your lower or outside hand while guiding the therapy knob with the upper or inside hand. This leveraging technique creates self-directed pressure to the targeted muscle. You can also use the Body Back Buddy to apply healing pressure to many other parts of the body such as your legs, arms, feet, chest and hips. Its versatility allows you to approach each muscle from many angles in creative ways. Since there are hundreds of ways to use the Body Back Buddy, take a moment to experiment and find out what works best for you. Use it standing, sitting, lying down or with a partner. Place the therapy knob on the sore muscle (trigger point) and apply what you consider to be a comfortable amount of pressure. When this muscle compression is released it stimulates a therapeutic response. Pressure preferences vary from one person to another deep and intense or gentle and relaxing. However, only apply as much pressure as you feel comfortable with. More pressure is not necessarily better! Ten to thirty seconds is normally enough time to elicit a therapeutic response in the muscle.

Features

  • Can be used effectively over the entire body to treat aches, pains, and sore muscles
  • Alleviates pain and stress due to fibromyalgia and other chronic muscle conditions
  • Apply pressure to trigger points, and along the spine
  • Deep, powerful and strong pressure, that you control
  • Comes with a free 12 page instruction booklet

Got the knot out!

by CS from on 2010-08-31
My husband had a knot/spasm in his back that would NOT go away for weeks, even after physical therapy and muscle relaxers. Out of desperation, he found this product online and decided to give it a try. After several days of working the knot in 5-minute sessions and then resting, the spasm finally subsided and he’s back to normal again. This is well worth the $25 or so it cost!

Actually helps with trigger points!

by Michael from on 2010-08-26
This thing has not cured my trigger points but when they get acute this is the tool I go for first. After a few minutes of working the trigger points they usually relax and my pain level drops 2-3 points on the 1-10 scale.

Not as good as a real massage but does the trick!

by Chris M L from Bothell, WA on 2010-08-18
I brought this little guy (actually, it is quite large) with me when I went on vacation to Montana. It was an 8 hour drive and by the time we got there I had developed a pain in my left shoulder blade. I couldn’t even pick up my kid. I got out my trigger point manual and went to work on several trigger points with my Body Back Buddy. Within 20 minutes my pain was barely noticeable. The next day it was gone.
Since then I’ve used this on many occasions to work on the adhesions around my shoulder blades and mid-back. Sometimes I think it would be better if there were little removable rubber pads on the ends of the knobs as sometimes it can be a bit painful. But all-in-all, it works just fine. I’m considering getting the smaller version so I can use it while at my desk at work.

Works as advertised

by Ed Neikirk from California on 2010-08-17
I bought this for a knot under my right shoulder blade that burned and ached almost constantly for three weeks. I had been asking my 8- and 5-year olds to elbow my back, but they weren’t around half the time and also I didn’t want to keep bugging them. This device is easy to use without help. You can easily apply a lot of pressure to a specific point and even move it up and down. So far I’ve used the knobs on either end for my back. I must have grabbed it 20 times in the first two days. After about 10 days, I noticed a significant difference in the pain level, and now it’s gone. Of course, I’ve done stretching and sat in the jacuzzi a few times, too. Anyhow, I was so miserable that I thought about going to a masseuse, which is great to do but pricey and provides temporary relief (with only one appt.). Ideally, you could see a masseuse a couple times and use this as a supplement. Even alone, though, this device did the trick for me. Regarding the documentation, it comes with a short pamphlet that simply describes where to use each knob. I don’t think more extensive documentation for the device itself is needed. If you want to learn about pressure points, then you can buy a book and use this device as the tool.

Great Massage Tool

by kayddid from on 2010-08-17
I have terrifically bad right shoulder pain – around the scapula. This area is hard to reach and other than going to a chiropractor or a massage therapist, there was just no relief available at home – that is, until I tried the Body Back Buddy. My daughter, who is a rock-climber, has a similar product that she swears by, so I decided to order one for myself. I use the rounded knob end to massage and press along the scapula area and also to massage around the back of my neck. Within minutes, literally, I have relief and by the end of the day, I have full range of motion in my arm and shoulder area. Works for me!!!

Body Back Buddy? More like Body Back BFF!

by Jesikah G. from Phoenix, AZ USA on 2010-06-18
The BBB and the Mini-BBB do exactly what they say they do. I suffer from muscle spasms in my back and my husband is just not patient enough to adequately help alleviate the pain with traditional hands-on trigger point therapy. Its okay, he knows he’s impatient with it. I was finding myself leaning up against any pointy surface just to get a “fix”. LOL Now when I’m suffering, I just pull out the BBB and go to town. Its soooo difficult to stop after 30sec of working one area, but please learn from my mistakes when I tell you that if you exceed the recommended treatment time, your body WILL generate an injury response and your back will feel like one giant bruise for a few days.

My only “complaint” is that the flash (seam from the top and bottom of the mold) left behind from the molding process was not ground down completely therefore leaving what feels like a sharp edge when pressed into my skin. I have not tried to grind this down on my own yet, mostly for fear of marring the aesthetics of the BBB.

All in all, I love my BBB and Mini-BBB. I keep the Mini-BBB in my desk at work and take it with me whenever I travel. The Mini doesn’t stand a chance in a competition against the BBB, but I don’t think its intended to be straight up substitute for the full-sized BBB. Its perfect for that little “pick me up” in the middle of the day when I feel a spasm coming on. I’ve owned my BBB’s for just over a month now and I notice that I have used them less and less each week. Since the only thing that has changed for me is the addition of the BBB into my routine, I can only conclude that the treatment is helping me heal. :-)

Great pain reliever!

by M. Sellers from Texas on 2010-06-17
Love love love these two little tools. So great in helping me with my trigger points.

Fantastic!

by Lee from Venice, CA on 2010-05-22
I’ve only used this for a week, but I feel it’s already paid for itself! Between my active lifestyle and the fact I sleep on my side I often get sore muscles particularly between my shoulder blades. Prior to the back buddy the best way to sooth those muscles was paying for a massage. The last time I started feeling sore I used the back buddy on the trigger points and used the round end to rub up and down next to my spine, 3 days later the soreness is all but gone(about the same as a professional massage). I’m sure I’ll learn more ways to use this as time goes on, as for the complaints in other reviews that it’s cheap plastic and large – the main back buddy is a very heavy duty type of plastic, I feel it will last a lifetime and I store it in my closet so it just hangs over the rod out of the way. This is one purchase that may be worth it’s weight in gold!!!!

Reach those Hard to Reach Places! — Great Tool

by Kustomizer from Texas Panhandle on 2010-03-26
This is a wonderful tool. It reaches the exact spot that needs massaging. I also read a lot about accupressure and found that most of the pressure needs to be pulsing type pressure instead of a long steady pressure. It works for me. Several friends have purchased one and they love it too. Great for anyone who wants to relax muscle tension and relieve aching muscles and trigger points. I’ve even been able to massage places I didn’t even know hurt (tops of my feet for example).

Ball is better than the roller

by Leyna from Pa. on 2010-08-22
I really like the porcupine ball. The roller is ok, the one problem I have with it is the rubber rings on one of the ends keeps coming off and the first time I found it, I accidentally threw it away. Had to dig it out of the garbage when I realized where it came from. :-(

Nice inexpensive foot massagers

by Miriam Ort from on 2010-08-16
These work pretty well. Although they have not solved my foot problem as my doctor had hoped, they do a good job of massaging the bottom of my injured foot. Great price too.

Really like the Porcupine Ball!

by Bdall from on 2010-07-24
I opened these immediately despite that they are in actuality, a gift for someone else. :) I really really like the porcupine ball. It works great for your back, if you place it between your shoulder blades and lean back in your chair it massages those hard to reach tension knots in your lower neck and shoulders. Feels fabulous! I only used the foot roller for a moment but found it to hit right on those sore arches that everyone seems to have, I’m sure it will work great as well.

Helps some with Plantar Fasciitis

by M Benson from Plano, TX on 2010-06-17
I bought this product to help with Plantar Fasciitis. While it doesn’t cure the problem, the combination of items do help in getting some relief. Initially when I bought the products, I figured the porcupine ball would provide a nice massage, but it’s the roller that loosens up the fascia and provides a little relief. The foot roller provides a deep tissue massage to the plantar fascia and the porcupine ball stimulates at the skin level. Other members of my family actually like using the porcupine ball when their feet are tired after a long day.

I like having both the wooden foot roller, and the porcupine massage ball for my feet. The wooden roller is very soothing, and the ball is stimulating. They each serve a valuable purpose.

My neck loved it… until it broke (massager broke, not neck)

by Brad Smith from Upstate, SC United States on 2010-06-25
This is a terrific product. The adjustable ball/triggers feel like they are a slightly soft outer shell wrapped around a firmer inner shell. Perfectly designed.

This product is a giant seafood-shell cracker and you are a crab. It pinches and compresses muscles very nicely. This is terrific for doing the back of the neck which is where I used it… until mine broke :-(

The manufacturer warns about using too much pressure. The back of my neck is somewhat tender compared to a large leg muscle. I did not think I was using too much pressure but obviously did so and it broke.

The rod portion of the mechanism is made of hard plastic. It appears I may be able to repair it by inserting a steel rod inside.

If I cannot fix it I will likely repurchase another one. That gives you an idea how much I like this. My four stars is not five only because it broke. My neck misses it.

Simple and effective

by K. Scott from on 2010-03-22
It’s worth the money. It’s hard to do anything similar with your own thumbs or hands. The center setting for the balls works well on my neck. Really does help release some of the tension in the muscles. And you have control over the intensity of pressure. The narrow setting for the balls works well squeezing the traps at the top of your shoulders. I had to use the string in order to do that. Worked fine. Glad I bought this contraption. It’s easy to put together and is effective on the areas I care about the most.

Great Product/Great Customer Service…

by Bernardo Carpio from Sacramento, CA on 2009-08-16
I work as a table game dealer in a casino and my arms and shoulders hurt almost every day, not to mention my thighs and legs for standing almost the whole 8 hours at work. I have a Hitachi wand massager and the shiatsu neck and foot massagers that I use every now and then but they seem not to be enough. I am so happy that I came across this item at Amazon because it does a lot of relief to my muscles which I cannot find on my other massagers — enough pressure force to relieve pain. The product does what the description says and more depending on your creativity– arms, knuckles, shoulders, thighs, legs and back. And as a friendly reminder, all the parts should be screwed as tightly as possible and inspected before every use because mine accidentally snapped after using it every day for over a week. I emailed bodyback immediately, got a response the following day and the replacement arrived in due time. Amazing product/amazing customer service.

AccuMassage Self Massage Tool

by Susan B. from Chicago, IL USA on 2009-07-13
I needed more instructions on how to use the tool. However, once I learned to use it, it feels great. You do have to play around with it to get to the spots you need. I find I am getting better the longer I use it. It is certainly a unique tool.

Good but requires work

by travel from on 2009-05-23
This product is nice, once you get accustomed to using it. Its a little complicated and removing the balls and switching them for every spot you want to work on is more than a person in pain wants to do. I like the tapping that the ball does on sore areas with one of the handles removed. I prefer the body cane instead.

Great for neck/shoulder pain.

by Jynanntonnyx from WA on 2010-08-20

Tension reliever!!!

by Julia from on 2010-06-28
Item has a little more give than another brand that I already have does, but it still works well when used against a wall or when placed under your back when lying down and rolling around slightly or used on the floor for your foot. Some people may even prefer this softer version better. Great for sore muscles/nerve damage due to shingles around the shoulder blades!!! I bought several for gifts.

Depends on sensitivity

by C. C. Emmons from Drexel Hill, PA, United States on 2010-05-24
I ordered 2 of these balls – one for myself and one for my husband. He has very sensitive feet and has had a hard time adjusting to the sharpness of the spikes. (part of the problem may also be the quantity of the spikes.) The initial uses may be quite uncomfortable if you dive in by putting a lot of pressure on the ball!

I love it though. I start by rolling my feet gently over the ball then start pressing harder once my feet are used to the spikes. I’ve been using mine for a few days consistently and I feel that I’m getting significant relaxation in my feet and relief from a minor case of plantar fasciitis. It also seems very durable!

These balls are hollow. They are stiff enough to stay spherical with only a little pressure but do compress about 35-40% when you put a lot of pressure on them. The spikes themselves stay stiff so even when squished the ball is delivering a massage.

Your mileage may vary. If you have very sensitive feet, this may not be the best massage ball to start with because of the stiffness and number of spikes. I find it very helpful, durable and cheerful. Plus, that color yellow is hard to lose under my desk!

not firm at all

by bt from on 2010-01-22
i got this thinking it’d be a good option instead of packing up (and possibly losing) my pair of goosebumps, but this is definitely not comparable. while it’s prickly (which is good), the ball feels like it’s not fully inflated, so i’m not getting a strong massage when i’m rolling it under my aching feet. so disappointing. guess i’ll be picking up another pair of goosebumps after all.

May not be fair to the product

by V. Lamberton from Mechanicsburg, PA on 2009-05-01
Believe it or not, I ordered this product for our dog. When we got her, she brought her favorite toy (a blue ball similar to this one). I wanted to make sure that she had more when her favorite one wore out. Not only does she keep it with her faithfully, but she loves to play catch with it at every chance. However, it turns out that the one that she had was actually one of the dryer balls. So this one here was too large and too hard on her teeth to catch. So, I don’t feel that my opinion would be fair to the product.

It works!

by Reader2008 from on 2010-02-26
In December and January, I played Wii tennis, bowling, boxing; did Zumba and yoga planks and push ups. As a result, my shoulder blade has been “killing me.” I have been going to the Chiropractic for 3 months and my shoulder blade is still killing me. After using the knobble to resolve soreness in my calves, I decided to purchase this device. It is addictive. You hold the thing and just push on sore spots. It takes trial and error, not a book, to figure out how to do it, but go to Youtube if you want a beginning point. Anyway, I sit on the sofa and just press sore spots. The next day, I put some ice and then heat on them. I have felt the best I have felt in months. Chiropractic care has been a JOKE for me. If I had this thing at the beginning of the pain, the soreness would likely have disappeared in a couple of treatments. In any case, get this thing. Ways I use it:

1. Shoulder blade – place the top of the knobber on the right shoulder area and move the knobber to the left shoulder blade; if you want to work the right shoulder blade, place the top of the knobber on the left shoulder

2. Hips – move the top of the knobber to your hips and hold horizontally and just find the spot of pain

3. Collar bone area – hold the skinny handle stick at the top of knobber to the collar bone area and press the soreness

4. Ribs – hold the knobber horizontally and place the little nobules on the rib area and move across

5. Calves – place your leg in the smaller looped end and just press your calves against the small knob at the end of the knobber

These are just examples. The key is to press the soreness about 10 seconds, press again for about 10 seconds and then give it a rest. You can always come back later to relieve some more sorness. Then, stretch the area.

If you are really sore, like I was, it may take some days but with the application of heat and continual use, you will feel better. It has been 2 days and I am already getting excited about the prospect of Wii-ing again.

Update: I bought the regular sized one and it is MUCH MUCH BETTER. The junior has such a small end that I had to pull harder and was hurting my arm in the process. The regular sized one has two big ends so torquing is easy. Also, the big one has pointed ends that allow you to melt the knots. The junior only has circular ends that press the knots but often they don’t just give in to pressure. I recommend the regular sized one over the junior.

AAhhh, this therapeautic massage cane is perfect for the smaller adult’s anatomy. It really gets into all the places you want to work out the kinks in your back, as well as legs and hips. The next best thing would be a professional massage therapist!

Better than the rest! :o)

I love this purple Back Buddy! It’s not too large to put in my suitcase. I’m not saying it’s small by any means, but I can still fit it into my carry-on suitcase with no trouble. I also have the green one by another company. But the green one is too ’slick’, for lack of better words. This purple one is easier to handle and I can get a better grip on it. Plus, it’s 10.00 cheaper than the other one. I’m ordering two more; one for my car when I travel and one for our condo. Happy knobbing! ;o)
